The Asia-Europe Comics Projects Series projects on comics and graphic novels started in August 2006 when the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) gathered 12 comic artists and a team of facilitators in Singapore with the primary aim of promoting the discovery of and building of new relationships between Asians and Europeans in this field by relating their common concerns and aspirations through each other’s eyes. The main theme of the gathering was: ‘Migration: Arrival or Departure?’

In 2007, the Asia-Europe Foundation continues its support in this field by initiating the project LINGUA COMICA in cooperation with the COMICA Festival London, with a focus on Asia-Europe graphic novels, and with the hope of continuing to build new in-roads to promote awareness, mutual understanding and dialogue on issues of common interest to Asia and Europe.
Through these collaborations networks of creators, artists, writers, publishers, editors and commentators engaged in the Asian and European graphic novel medium will be fostered, and encouraged to embark on future opportunities for multilateral Asia-Europe collaborations.
The viewer is advised that the images and commentry featured in this Virtual Collaboratory Artistic Platform (VCAP) reflect the opinions of the artists themselves and are in no way indicative of the point of view of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) or COMICA Festival London
